DRIVER PROFILES #67 David Thorndyke
HOMETOWN: Oshawa, Ontario // BIRTH DATE: January 6, 1957 // SPONSOR(S) / MAKE: Thorson’s EVT /
iRacing.com / Mark’s Work Warehouse Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
NOTABLE: A self-proclaimed ‘hobby racer’, Thorndyke com- peted in three events in 2009, all on road courses. He was unable to crack into the top-20; his best result was a 21st in Montreal. Thorndyke plans to race at Mosport, Trois-Rivières, Toronto and Montreal this year.
QUOTABLE: “We’re pretty excited with the new ‘spec’ engine, and we’ve updated to the 101 transmission. Our goal this year is to finish every race we start; a top-10 would be like a victory for us. I’m glad they added Toronto to the schedule. That will be a show for the fans, and it will be great to be a part of it.”
BY JOE HAMILTON (CAR) & NASCAR (INSET) #69 Trevor Seibert
HOMETOWN: Williams Lake, British Columbia // BIRTH DATE: March 4, 1967 SPONSOR(S) / MAKE: Lake Excavating / Cleanwerx Dodge Avenger
NOTABLE: Ran six events in 2009, competing in all four road races as well as the oval events in Vernon, BC and Saskatoon, SK. Had a season best result of fourth in Edmonton. Under the guidance of Crew Chief Bill Burns, Seibert will enter his Dodge in all five road courses events this year. Trevor has a Ford at his disposal for the Western oval races. His son, Ryley, hopes to race against him on the Motoplex oval, in Vernon.
QUOTABLE: “Our road package is good but the oval car needs some work; that’s our next project. Our road car is the best one we’ve ever built. We’re going to win a couple this year. And we have more power this year with the Dodge motor.”
BY GREG MACPHERSON (CAR) AND NASCAR (INSET) #81 Shawn McGlynn
HOMETOWN: Kitchener, Ontario // BIRTH DATE: January 12, 1969 SPONSOR(S) / MAKE: RC Trailers / Lucas Oil / Stratafax / Wigs For Kids / B&B Decals / Bray Auto Dodge Avenger
NOTABLE: This lifelong Ford driver finds himself behind the wheel of one of Jim Bray’s Dodges for 2010. McGlynn took part in two Canadian Tire Series races in 2008.
QUOTABLE: “Our plan now is to run the first four NASCAR Canadian Tire Series races and see what happens after that, in terms of sponsorship... We have older equipment, but it’s really good equipment. As long as I set it up right and our crew works well, we can still run at the front, I think. I went to a road course driving school in December, the Bob Bodu- rant School in Arizona. I learned a lot and that should help me on the road courses.”
