Complete Privacy Washrooms for Schools
There is a growing demand for complete privacy in the washroom area in Secondary Schools and projects involved with the ‘Building Schools for the Future’ programme. Amwell Systems has reacted to this by offering a number of cubicles within their range with the option of floor to ceiling doors, pilasters and partitions. Ultimate privacy can be achieved by Amwell’s floor to ceiling cubicles with doors and pilasters being just 10 mm above floor level, while the partitions have the option of being taken right down to the floor into a specifically designed channel.

Systems integrating biomass and solar with high efficiency HVAC components are delivering low carbon performance for two new schools in Sunderland. It was decided that off-site construction would be the best way to deliver the projects and Armstrong was approached to supply the energy centres for both academies. At the heart of each energy centre is a 350 to 500kW biomass boiler, fuelled by wood pellets. Heat is also generated by solar panels. Armstrong variable speed booster sets and IVS pumps distribute hot and cold water supplies throughout each site.

New Modular Hand Rail System
FibreGrid Limited has launched their brand new DDA / Building Regulation compliant safety handrail. Available in both safety yellow and grey, FibreRail with its unique high quality PVC coating offers the all important ‘warm to touch’ requirement as set down by the current Building Regulations. FibreRail now has even more adjustable components meaning there are an abundance of design combinations to suit your requirements.
Another of the many improved features is an even stronger security fitting. Made from stainless steel the fixings not only ensure a strong rail structure but are also tamper proof. To comply with current Building Regulation requirements tube diameter should be no more than 45mm in diameter. FibreRail tube meets this requirement. The modular handrail system is quick and simple to install. Its internal fittings on the main handrail run means ‘no snag points’ are present, another requirement of the Building Regulations.
