JS Air Curtains has
supplied 20 air curtains for the recently opened Union Square shopping centre in Aberdeen. Three different types of air curtains from JS are helping prevent cold air from entering the prestigious £275 million retail development, keeping the internal atmosphere warm for shoppers and staff. Half of the units supplied are 2m long stainless steel Rund air curtains. They are stood vertically on their ends at the front and rear entrances of the shopping complex creating an attractive series of architectural pillars.

Elta Fans has supplied four 1250mm, long-case, ‘Run and Standby’ fans for the new Dalston Junction Railway Station, currently under construction in the London Borough of Hackney. The range is an extensive selection of robust, long-cased axial fans, fitted with adjustable-pitch, aerofoil-section, bladed impellers and offers performance with strength, durability and corrosion resistance. They are wired into the master control panel of a pressurisation system, which incorporates an automatic changeover facility should the duty fan fail to switch to ‘standby’ mode. Constant ventilation and a positive pressure are maintained within the stairwells of the station. Advanced Smoke’s spokesman, Brian Lockton commented: “We have always found that by working closely with [Elta Fans], we are able to overcome any technical difficulties with comparative ease.”
Levolux Solution Prescribed for Warwick
The new Clinical Trials Unit building at Warwick Medical School sets new standards in the application of energy efficient, sustainable building technologies, including a custom solar shading system developed by Levolux. The bespoke external aluminium Fabricated Fin solar shading system was applied vertically along the east and west elevations of the two storey building. This not only helps to control natural light levels, but also provides shade to exposed windows, thereby reducing unwanted solar heat gain inside the building. As a result, comfort levels are maintained without the need for expensive, energy-sapping air conditioning equipment.
