The Bristol branch of Stannah Lift Services Ltd has completed the refurbishment of the two 32-person, traction-drive bed lifts in the £39 million Terence Lewis building at Derriford Hospital, a large teaching hospital serving Plymouth and nearby areas in Devon and Cornwall. In keeping with the hospital’s commitment to excellent patient care, Bristol Stannah Lift Services Ltd was commissioned to give the two lifts a complete overhaul. From satin-stainless-steel lift cars to entrances, controllers and slings, all components were replaced in order to deliver and maintain the highest level of long-lasting performance within this challenging environment.

Superior Efficiency and Compact Size
Alfa Laval’s new CB60 copper brazed plate heat exchanger manages to provide higher thermal efficiency within a smaller heat transfer area which adds up to an overall increase in performance capacity compared to its predecessors. Since the new CB60 offers less pressure drop, power consumption is also reduced. A range of different plate patterns are available. The exchanger is ideal for applications in District Heating, general heating and cooling duties and tap water heating solutions. With an even more compact shape, the gasket-free exchangers can be squeezed into tight corners, even when space is severely limited. With no gaskets and, therefore reduced risk of leaks, they are ideal for duties featuring high temperatures or pressures, or a combination of both.

Daikin Heat Pump Convector Solution
Daikin Europe has introduced a new heat pump convector solution, complete with interlink function. The new and compact Daikin heat pump convector easily produces the required levels of heat at low leaving water temperatures. In order to maximise unit efficiency, Daikin has also developed an interlink system. Instead of switching leaving water circuit on and off via a thermostat in a single master room, each convector can be directly wired to the Daikin Altherma indoor unit (hydrobox) or Daikin Altherma Low Temperature Monobloc unit, the system’s intelligence centre. A remote control with built in weekly timer allows easy control of the unit, including room temperature, fan speed, automatic or night mode and rapid heating or cooling.
