Money isn't everything, but it sure keeps the kids in touch.
Green at Heart for March

There are many ways to bring eco ideas into your everyday lives, which in the long run helps the environment.
At home… You might consider joining the website ‘Freecycle.’ People from your local area advertise things they no longer need to fellow members- for FREE! However you do need to arrange a pick up point with the person who owns the item. Items can range from a T.V set to a pet guinea pig, recent lists appear in the form of daily emails to your inbox. But the most important thing is that these unwanted items do not end up in landfill. (Join at

In schools… In primary schools creating an allotment could be useful to grow local food, save money and introduce young children to different foods. This will not only encourage kids to eat more vegetables, because they are involved in the growing process, but reduces pollution from transporting the food from elsewhere. Secondary school pupils may even be encouraged to take part in local green groups such as ‘Prospects,’ a Hyndburn group whose aim is to improve our natural environment. Ideas about a community food growing project and joining their group
are both found on
www.prospectsfoundation.org.uk
In the workplace…
There are plenty of ideas to make a difference in the workplace and your transport getting there. You could start by signing your company up to the ‘Cyclescheme’ which allows workers to buy a bike tax-free, therefore decreasing pollution and road traffic. To encourage people to do this you might want a ‘Bike to Work Day’. At the workplace the smallest things can make the biggest difference, it can be as simple as changing to CFL light bulbs which not only reduce the bill up to 75% but produce less heat.

How many zeros in a billion?
This is too true to be funny. The next time you hear a politician use the Word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money. A billion is a difficult number
advertising agency did a good job of putting
to comprehend, but one that figure into
some perspective in one of it's releases. A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959. B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive. C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were Living in the Stone Age. D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet. E. A billion Pounds ago was only 13 hours and 12 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it. Building Permit Tax. Cigarette Tax. Corporate Income Tax. Income Tax. Vat Tax. Unemployment Tax. Fishing License Tax. Food License Tax. Fuel Permit Tax. Petrol/Diesel Tax. Hunting License Tax. Inheritance Tax. Inventory Tax. (tax on top of tax) Liquor Tax. Local Tax. Luxury Tax. Marriage License Tax. Property Tax. Real Estate Tax. Road Usage Tax. Service charge taxes. Social Security Tax. T.V.
License Tax.
Vehicle License Registration Tax. Vehicle Sales Tax. Workers Compensation Tax. STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago... And our nation was one of the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt... We had the largest middle class in the world... And Mum stayed home to raise the kids. What happened? Can you spell 'politicians!' What the hell happened ????? Gordon Brown, that's What.
