That’s the Spirit !
Quietly tucked away under an arch between Party People and HSBC Bank in Clitheroe is the small shop called Lather and Lite. Outwardly, it is a shop selling sls free products for eczema, psoriasis and sensitive skins, but it has a secret !
The shop is haunted by children who play pranks on customers and staff alike.
Before opening it’s doors in March 2008, the proprietor, having sensed an uncomfortable presence on her first viewing, had the shop Blessed and Cleansed by a local coven of White Witches. Initially, everything was quiet,
then soon after the
staff had gone home on a Saturday evening, the owner was in the back of the shop washing out soap moulds when the ground started to shake. A strong gust of ice cold air came from the floor through her feet, up her legs and travelled through her body. As the air passed her head she heard a loud growl and a voice said, “ Those Meddling Mystic Bitches.” Then the whole thing appeared to disappear into a stone slab that sticks out of the ceiling. As she locked up (2 minutes later) a young girl from the flat above met her at the door, visibly shaken. Stacy was have a lie down when this apparition appeared through the floor of her upstairs flat and frightened her to death. ( Her statement follows this article.) The children are not a problem, they are just mischievous. If they are not running up and down the shop laughing and playfully screaming, they are hiding and moving things around. Necklaces are displayed on two hands, free standing with fingers outstretched. One morning staff were greeted to a display on the floor. The fingers of the hands were interlinked and the necklace chains were wound around the fingers. In September 09 the shop started stocking Angel figures, crystals and Angel cards. These are the focus today of the children’s games as every morning the staff spend their time looking for figures that have been played with and abandoned anywhere in the shop, from shelving in the window to on top of the toilet cistern. I moved into the flat on 1st March 2008, in my first week I got woken up by a man’s voice saying, “ I’m going to make your life hell!” Well for a female who had just started independ- ent life, that was terrifying. I was so scared I hid under the covers. I knew it wasn’t a dream. I ran downstairs and met the lady from the shop below, and she explained how she saw something go up through her ceiling. I told friends at work and my mum, but they put it down to homesickness. Then I started to smell Lavender flowers which I couldn’t explain. I bumped into one of my neighbours, Peter, and we got talking as you do. At first I didn’t say anything about my strange goings on because I thought he would think I was mad, but after a couple of weeks I asked him if he had noticed anything unusual. He knew all about it and told me some horrendous stories of how he had been violently attacked by this presence. My heart skipped a few beats as I knew I hadn’t lost it, but even more scary is that someone else could confirm what I had encountered. Stacy and Peter have both moved out of their flats.
