EOQHA News
The Eastern Ontario Quar- ter Horse Association hosts some of the most successful and fun filled Quarter Horse circuits in the country. The reason for this is twofold; the Association’s dedicated and hard working vol- unteers and generous and sup- portive sponsors. Without the hard work and dedication of both groups, the EOQHA would not be able to keep show costs down nor be able to offer the many extras that make it the excellent showing experience that it is. Many of the Association’s bank of volunteers are long standing and have been with the club since its inception almost 30 years ago. Whether new to the role of volunteer or having helped the club host shows for many years, they are the grease that keeps the wheel going round. They run the shows, build the stalls, groom the grounds, keep the footing in excellent con- dition, organize the fun events, keep you informed and purchase the awards. But despite all the volunteer labour in the world, the shows could not be run at the low cost they are offered to you without sponsors. It is the spon- sors that subsidize the cost of the

rental of grounds, help pay for the show office, awards and events, fees for judges and host- ing the events themselves. The EOQHA has many sponsors of many different types that provide services within the equine industry and outside of it as well. Some sponsors that pro- vide service to industry are long standing and look after the local horse and farming community. Sponsors like John Herrick from Kinburn Farm Supply and Mur- ray McGregor from 5-Span Feed and Seed Inc. are suppliers of feed and bedding to the local farming and horse community. Scott McGuire Water Service keeps our rings from being dust bowls during the heat of the summer and the Carp Fair Board gives us assistance with grounds rental. The OQHA Amateurs offers more than just moral sup- port to our club, they help us out financially too.
How could horse shows be held without tack stores, saddle makers and other retailers? EOQHA is proud to have Apple Saddlery, Bridle Path Tack Store, the Pony Place, Circle R Sad- dlery makers of fine western sad- dles, Sandy’s Saddlery, and Wicksteed Tack as sponsors. Barnie’s Horse Treats makes goodies that your horse would do

anything for, while the Mariposa Market offers delightful baked goods and gift items that humans can’t resist. Moon Chips Jew- ellery and Christine Dube from Silpada Jewellery can provide you with the bling that will make your show ring outfit complete. While Tomboy tools has the tools and info that will let any woman become the handy- woman she always wanted to be. Need help with your show-
ing? Having horse problems? Want a new horse? Let Dave Aitchison Show Horses, Dewar Performance Horses, Kelly Williams Show Horses, Patti Carter Performance Horses or Randy Storey Training Centre provide solutions to your horse or show problems. Or let Lynda Cho from Tender Touch Equine Therapy help to ease your horse’s aches and pains.

serviced for you as well. And finally we at EOQHA would like to thank our individual sponsors who have continued to support our club over the years: Dave and Dianne Runtz, Bridewood Farm Equine Services, Ron and Cobie Wakely, Fortune View Farm, Rod Jeffries, Bill and Cathy Cox, Roch Morin, Judy Gill, Scott and Linda Berwick and Crawford Quarter Horses. Then there’s our hands-on show management team of Ken McLellan, Leslie Ellins and Beth White, without whose efforts our shows would not run as smoothly as they do and who also are passionate enough about our Club to contribute in other forms as well!
Maybe you need a new trailer to transport your horse to the shows. Let Hepburn Trailer sales help you with that pur- chase. Randy Fox of Fox’s Harley-Davidson/Buell can help with you with an alternate means of transportation. Our newest corporate sponsor, Stittsville Trailer can provide you with whatever kind of trailer you need from travel trailer, utility trailer or horse trailer and will keep it

As all of these people and organizations put their hands into their pockets or give of their time to help us out, we should remem- ber them when the time comes that we intend to purchase something that they can provide. Support our sponsors, they help to make our show experience great. And while you are at it, say thanks to one of those many volunteers next summer; without them we wouldn’t have the great shows that we do.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
We hope you are surviv- ing the winter; spring is just around the corner. Our days are now starting to get longer as we speak.
Before we know it, the days will be warm & sunny and show season will be here. Our first show, as you probably have already heard, does have an extra day added to make our Spring Fling show 4 days long. Make sure you mark May 29 2010 on your
calendar for EOQHA’s 2009 award banquet. If you plan to attend our fun filled evening, please email Cheryl Norris at
snappysdevil@aol.com or Sheryl Chillson at petiteheart-
strings@gmail.com as we need a head count for our caterer. Tickets will be sold at the door that evening as well, and keep checking our website as we will be posting the evening’s activities and ticket prices soon.
We would like to wel- come aboard a few new spon- sors and as well as our current sponsors, who support us each and every year. We thank you. So I hope to see you all
