Let The Innovation Continue:
Hot Picks ‘09
by Scott MacLeod
After a less than stellar
year in retail last season
golf manufacturers appear
undeterred in their plans to
push forward. Like each
year before it, 2009 brings
serious innovation as golf
We never seem to think it is possible but the mad geniuses that toil for hours in the labs at golf manufacturers
equipment moves to yet
seem to do it again and again. They continue to make the game more enjoyable to play and be a part of,
whether than means hitting a longer drive or just having a more comfortable pair of shoes to walk the
another level. fairways in.
Building on the adjustable club models of 2008, several companies have created drivers with even more
advanced options for 2009 and, understandably, these will garner a lot of attention from golfers of all levels.
However, just as important as the “big guns” is the attention golf companies are giving to the entire spectrum
of their products. To be a successful company in tough times they know that if they “capture” a consumer
with one of their products, they can likely convert them throughout their equipment choices. Just look to
companies like Callaway, Nike, Titleist, Cleveland/Srixon and TaylorMade and you will be delighted about
how each of them alone can provide just about every golf item you might ever need.
As we state each time we provide Hot Picks, this is not the “best of” in our opinions – it is simply a way
for us to point out some products we think you should check out. Believe me, in sorting through thousands
of products for this showcase there are plenty of them that are worthy of your attention. This just happens
to be fifty we felt our readers might be interested in.
Work with your favourite retail outlet (on or off-course) to find the best products top take your game to the
next level.
One of these might be great place to start.
