GAL holds Spring Meeting
Marie Seabrook (Founder) and Lisa Spiegel (League Co-ordinator)
hosted the Golf A Round League (GAL) spring meeting for returning and
G O L F C L U B
prospective women members at the Cedarhill Golf Club in Nepean recently.
Now in its’ 13
th
year of operation, the GAL is approaching an annual
membership of 600 and many of their leagues are operating at full capacity. Marie
Seabrook believes that, “Our success is due to a relaxed and friendly atmosphere,

where the women can have some fun and tee times are guaranteed.”
According to a number of ladies interviewed at the meeting, the networking

is huge and lasting relationships are being built regularly. Karen McLeish
enjoys “the camaraderie and the business networking” and also the chance

to improve her golf game. Maureen Leeson is new to the League and
“looking for information on the League and where to go for lessons.” One
of the GAL Captains took the opportunity to spend some time with Maureen.

Enid McNeil, now in her 4
th
year with GAL, indicated that, “one - it is
the right age group for me; two - playing at Cedarhill is convenient for me

and three – I like the format with a touch of competition and equal parts
competition.” As Marie and Lisa both say, “There’s always room to grow.”

Hartman Wins Collegiate Event

Brad Hartman of Napanee, Ontario, last
year’s winner of the Flagstick Garrison Open,
took first place honours on March 1
st
at the
Marlin Invitational that was played in Virginia
Beach, Virginia.
The event was shortened to just one round
with wind pelting the players and
temperatures hovering barely above freezing
, but it was perfect weather for a Canadian
as Hartman shot 71 in the extreme conditions.

At the 2008 Garrison Open Hartman avenged multiple past second

total even with a double bogey on the final hole. That score secured him a
