Work ready. Life ready. World ready.

UMass Lowell is a public research university that offers high quality academic programs and personal attention to students who are ready to prepare for successful careers in almost any field. The University is part of the University of Massachusetts system, which the London Times recently ranked 56th among the top 200 univer- sities in the world (and 19th for academic and research reputation). UMass Lowell is ranked among the top 200 national research uni- versities by U.S. News and World Report and recently earned the distinction of being named by the Chronicle of Higher Education as a leader in ensuring student success. What this means is that our graduates are ready to contribute meaningfully in the workplace and in graduate programs, to build lives around their most abiding pas- sions and to be productive citizens of the world.

at area companies, joining research teams on campus or undertaking service- learning projects in the surrounding community. The World Association for Cooperative Education (WACE), an internation- al consortium of institu- tions and corporate part- ners that creates co-op opportunities for students worldwide, is headquar- tered at UMass Lowell.

Campus Life

UMass Lowell is a diverse and inclusive com- munity. Students are

focused on getting an education that will carry them far in the future, but they also enjoy a full life on campus. Seventy-five percent of freshmen live in University housing and take part in the full schedule of events—games, movies, concerts, comedians, plays, speakers and more. They also participate in more than 120 active student organizations and engage with the lively arts and cultural communities in Lowell.

Leading with Learning

The 14:1 student-teacher ratio translates into personal atten- tion from world class professors. Fifty percent of all classes at the University have fewer than 20 students. Freshmen belong to learn- ing communities that help them make friends, meet professors in their majors and develop a robust support system during their first semester. The University also offers many accelerated bachelor’s to master’s programs, which allow students to earn two degrees in as few as five years.

Learning through Experience In addition to learning in the classroom, students learn by solv- ing real problems for real people through paid internships or co-ops
