It’s time to get voting!

Over two hundred members of the industry submitted entry and nomination forms before the stroke of midnight on Monday 11 April. Each form contained multiple entries and nominations, so every category is full to the brim with exciting brands, retailers and people all determined to scoop the ultimate accolade.

KU’s Carl Hearnden said: “The number of entries and nominations has again surpassed all expectations, as has the significant level of industry backing, which has culminated in an impressive line-up of sponsors. I like everybody else am looking forward to seeing how the industry votes this time.”

How it works

The secure online voting process will produce a minimum of five finalists in each category, with the winners being those who have attracted the most votes overall.

Only members of the industry may take part – consumer nominations and votes will not be counted. Only one vote is allowed per category, per person. No judging panel will be required which means there will be no possibility of opinion bias and third party scrutiny will ensure total credibility of the process.

The ceremony will take place at Shakespeare’s iconic Globe Theatre in London Thursday 23 June, hosted by Paul Sinha, star of ITV’s day time quiz show, The Chase.

Situated directly beneath Shakespeare’s Globe theatre, the Underglobe is one of the most unique and flexible events spaces in London. By day it serves as the Globe’s Shakespeare exhibition; by night it is transformed into a dedicated events venue, perfect for awards ceremonies and gala dinners.

The BKU Awards team is delighted to have Paul Sinha as host. After turning to stand-up as a break from his studies whilst a junior doctor, Paul went on to become both a practising GP and an Edinburgh comedy award nominee. He continued to perform whilst working as a locum in the East End of London, where his experiences on the NHS frontline became a great source of material. Having since given up his career in medicine, Paul has appeared on every TV quiz from Mastermind to The Weakest Link and is now a

What’s more, the world’s greatest MJ impersonator, ‘NAVI’ is set to perform at the event, courtesy of Showtime, a company that has specialised in Michael Jackson productions for over 20 years.

The show is called ‘King of Pop – The Legend Continues’ and will cover a period of more than five decades with hits including Smooth Criminal, Beat It, Billie Jean, Bad, Black or White, Thriller and Man in the Mirror’, as well as Jackson Five classics such as I want you back, ABC, Can you feel it and Shake your body.

Navi has become such a force that recently his name had to be ‘trademarked’ as many have attempted to pass themselves off as ‘Navi’. “Endoresement doesn’t come any clearer than Michael Jackson himself applauding you, inviting you to Neverland and using you on several occasions to promote albums/concerts or as a decoy,” says Showtime.
