he kitchen is often seen as the heart of the home and the demand for open plan living is a trend that is here to stay. So the kitchen not only has to be functional to incorporate cooking dining and living all rolled into one, but also needs to have an air of style and elegance. This one room living suits the sociable and busy lifestyles typical of modern day families who are looking for more than just a place to cook. For this reason many homeowners are prepared to spend a lot of money to get their dream kitchen just right for their needs and desires.
We have seen a shift in the market from strong, bold colours towards a more neutral colour palette, with grey becoming the obvious front runner. This trend is proving to be popular throughout kitchen including appliances, sinks and accessories.
Metallics create a modern, industrial feel when applied alongside this colour palette. With copper emerging as a popular choice within the Kitchen, allowing subtle hints of colour to be splashed across appliances, handles and sinks accessories.
Solid worktops are increasingly becoming available to the mass market, prompting increased demand within the high street retailers. Demand on products that come hand-in-hand with a solid work surface have in turn seen an increase in sales. Therefore Undermount sinks should be a key feature in every retailers sink offering.

2016, a year full of launches for Astracast 2
016 sees a very exciting year for Astracast in terms of new products, with regular launches throughout the year. This started in January with the launch of our new range of food waste disposers, followed closely by an exciting new range of 5 Undermount granite sinks which have been a huge hit. They are a great partner for the increasingly popular solid work surface. Open plan living and entertaining is a trend that is not going away so the Companion sink due to be launched in the coming months is ideal. Perfect for preparing drinks for your guests but also ideal for use as a main sink when space in the kitchen is an issue. A main bowl together with a shallow drainer, deep drainer and ice bucket this Companion sink pack is a great addition as a secondary sink or a perfect compact main sink.
2016 will also see the launch of our new ROK® Granite colour, concrete grey.
