Stainless Steel

The enduring appeal of stainless steel D

Comment by Dave Mayer Sales and Marketing Director, Reginox

espite the growth of alternative sink materials, the British homeowner’s love affair with stainless steel shows no sign of waning. Sure, the growth of ceramic and granite-based products over the past few years has been noticeable, but steel undoubtedly remains the soul of the kitchen sink market here in the UK. It’s not difficult to understand why, as the combination of timeless appeal, practicality, usability and aesthetics offered by stainless steel is hard for any other sink material to match. Steel offers the total package and, with latest developments seeing the introduction for the first time of coloured stainless steel, it looks set to continue its reign for the foreseeable future.

One of the many benefits of stainless steel is its versatility, as it can be moulded to virtually any shape, size or design. This versatility has recently enabled a two-level water-saving stainless steel sink to be developed, opening up new possibilities for energy efficiency in the kitchen. The advent of instant hot water taps has addressed this issue to

some extent but, until now, the creation of a water-saving sink that doesn’t affect practicality and usability has presented a dilemma, so it is great to see this issue being addressed.

The ongoing challenge for manufacturers across all industries is to push boundaries in terms of creating designs that are stylish, practical and usable. I feel that, when it comes to the sinks market, we are lucky to have a material such as stainless steel that will enable us to keep doing just that.

Water-saving with Reginox’s new Niagara sink R

eginox has launched Niagara, an innovative sink designed to help reduce water consumption.

Manufactured from 0.9mm stainless steel, Niagara boasts a versatile design that offers two different levels within a single sink - a lower level for washing up small items and a higher level that enables larger items, such as saucepans and woks to be cleaned. This multipurpose design enables the homeowner to use less water, whilst rounded

corners ensure that the sink is particularly easy to clean.

Niagara’s well-conceived functionality extends to the smart accessories with which it is supplied, including a removable stainless steel bottom grid that can also conveniently be used as a hot plate, and a plastic colander with stainless steel lid that can double up as a storage box or small waste bin. Niagara can be inset or undermounted and is suitable for installation into a 600mm base unit.

The sink comes with a lifetime guarantee. For more information contact Reginox.
