GaN Systems power transistors are 50% smaller
G
aN Systems, the leading developer of gallium nitride power switching semiconductors, today confirmed the world’s smallest 650V, 15A gallium nitride transistor. With a footprint of just 5.0 x 6.5mm, the GS66504B – one of a family of 650V devices that spans 7A to 200A – is 50% smaller than competing devices. GaN Systems is the first company to have developed and brought a comprehensive product range of devices with current ratings from 7A to 250A to the global market – its Island Technology® die design, combined with its extremely low inductance and thermally efficient GaNPX™ packaging and Drive Assist technology means the company’s GaN transistors offer a 40-fold improvement in switching and conduction performance over traditional silicon MOSFETs and IGBTs. Devices are available now through its worldwide distribution network.

power and signal in a single connector body capable of up to 40 amps per size 8 contact. The new WCBD styles feature a flexible, thermal- resistant adhesive seal and mounting accessories and hardware that prevent water and dust ingress into the enclosure. The materials used – a composite mounting plate, optional stainless steel shell and heavy gold plating – have been chosen to offer long-term corrosion resistance.
WCBD series connectors are available with vertical and right angle solder PCB terminations in two tail diameters, and optionally with flying leads. Closed entry PosiBand® female contacts for ruggedized applications can also be fitted.

stute Electronics, the leading supplier of electronic components and value added services, is now stocking a waterproof version of
arwin, the leading hi-rel connector and SMT board hardware manufacturer, has expanded its popular EZBoardware range with the introduction of three new RFI Shield Clips suitable for small and low profile shield cans with wall thicknesses of between 0.15 and 1.0mm. These additions include two clips of only 3.9mm length, allowing users to fix smaller sized cans to the PCB using this cost effective method. The range of clips now available also includes the S0961-46R, specifically designed to provide significantly higher retention forces on the shield can, typically up by 30%, ideal for those users seeking to maximise retention of the shielding can to the board. Supplied taped and
reeled, EZShield Can Clips are designed to be automatically placed and surface mounted to the PCB, saving time-consuming, costly and potentially damaging secondary processing operations. The clips provide secure retention of RFI/EMI shield cans, resisting shock and vibration, whilst facilitating easy removal and replacement, making them ideal for adjustment, repair and maintenance purposes.

New data and server cabinets combine ease of installation, accessibility, strength and price
H
ylec-APL, the specialist supplier of electrical and electronic components, enclosures and rack systems, is announcing RETO, the latest line in 19in data and server cabinets from Retex, which offers many advantages, including ease of installation, accessibility, strength and price. Retex, a Spanish enclosure manufacturer, is known for the design of its products, the majority of which are shipped flat-pack, for ease of transportation and installation, especially in difficult-to-access server rooms. The new RETO rack differs from previous generation products because it has no external structure. This maximizes internal space utilization, and also helps facilitate quick assembly. However load- carrying-capability has not been compromised; RETO racks can handle up to 1200kg – up to 50% more than some cheap flat pack models - and they are around 25% more cost-effective than Retex’s Logic2 rack, which handles up to 1500kg.
