PRODUCTS INTERCONNECTION VERY LOW PROFILE CLIPS IDEAL FOR AUTOMATED ASSEMBLY

clips of only 3.9mm length, allowing users to fix smaller sized cans to the PCB using this cost effective method. The range of clips now

available also includes the S0961-46R, specifically designed to provide significantly higher retention forces on the shield can, typically up by 30%, ideal for those users

T

hree new RFI Shield Clips have been added by Harwin to the

company’s EZBoardware range. These additions are suitable for small and low profile shield cans with wall thicknesses of between 0.15 and 1.0mm. They include two

seeking to maximise retention of the shielding can to the board. The company advises, the taped

and reeled can clips are designed to be automatically placed and surface mounted to the PCB, saving time-consuming, costly and

potentially damaging secondary processing operations. The clips provide secure retention of RFI/EMI shield cans, resisting shock and vibration, whilst facilitating easy removal and replacement, making them ideal for adjustment, repair and maintenance purposes. Applications are found in many

markets, ranging from Consumer Electronics through to the Industrial, Instrumentation and Control Systems environments. Essentially, EZShield Can Clips suit any market that either uses RF devices or requires protection from interference. Harwin www.harwin.com

SMT VERSIONS

The existing range of Binder M12 connectors has been extended with the availability of new surface mount panel connectors. Supplied in two halves: an SMT contact carrier that is made of liquid crystal polymer and an optional nickel- plated brass body if it is required, these new connectors are suitable for re-flow soldering at 250°C for 20 to 40 seconds and are available with or without shielding. Male and female versions are

WATERPROOF COMBO-D POWER CONNECTOR VERSION

Astute Electronics is now stocking a waterproof version of Positronic’s Combo-D mixed power/signal connector family. The recently launched WCBD series connectors maintain a rating of IP67 making them ideally-suited to non-sheltered and outdoor applications. Combo-D connectors allow the user to mix power

and signal in a single connector body capable of up to 40Amps per size eight contact. The new WCBD styles feature a flexible, thermal-resistant adhesive seal and mounting accessories and hardware that prevent water and dust ingress into the enclosure. The materials used – a composite mounting plate, optional stainless steel shell and heavy gold plating – have been selected because of their optimal properties, offering long-term corrosion resistance. “The industry appetite for waterproof and ingress protection features is increasing as electronics continue to pervade all markets. With its WCBD series connectors, Positronic is enabling designers of equipment for use outdoors to benefit from the flexibility, miniaturisation and cost saving afforded by its Combo-D product range,” said Gary Evans, E-Mech Divisional Manager, Astute Electronics. These connectors are available with vertical and right angle solder PCB terminations in two tail

diameters, and optionally with flying leads. Astute Electronics www.astute.co.uk

available with contacts gold-plated on the mating side and gold/tin plated on the solder side in four, five and eight pole formats. Housings have a height of nine or 13mm and the connectors are protected to IP67 when mated. The M12 interface is provided with A, B and D coding, the current rating is 2A and 4A and voltage 250V, 125V and 60V. www.binder-connector.co.uk

ERNI Electronics has expanded its 0.8mm MicroStac SMT connector series to include antimagnetic versions with 12 pin (single row) and 54 pin (dual row). This combination of the extreme miniaturisation and design makes it ideal for extremely compact and demanding applications. Furthermore, the scope of applications is very broad, ranging from sensor technology, medical instruments and mobile communication to automotive electronics, automation engineering, measurement and test equipment.

contact and the connectors are intermateable with 3.5mm and 2.92mm designs. The company manufactures one of the widest ranges of standard Coaxial, Triaxial and Waterproof connectors available worldwide, including its Pisces waterproof series, which allows for modification. The company also manufactures a large range of coaxial adaptors, to facilitate inter-series connection and gender change etc. and connector and cable assemblies employing conventional cable and semi-rigid types including cryogenic semi rigid cables for applications requiring operation at very low temperatures.
