Yard Building
Perfect The addition of the yard building completed the scene and hints at a very busy terminal.
Staining Each board used for the siding was individually stained.
Combo A Tichy door and window were glued together to create an interesting combination.

Assorted structures fill rail- road properties, ranging from storage sheds to offices to worker locker rooms. Many structures have been repurposed from other uses, and it is impossible to tell what their actual use is just by looking at them. These buildings are not high on the maintenance list, so often they are in a heav- ily weathered state, more so than some of the larger buildings. My engine terminal needed just such a building to fill a small space and add to the cluttered look of the facility.
I also wanted to experiment with board-by-board con- struction (a per- fect use for my new Chop-It) and heavy weathering. This lit-

tle structure fit the bill on all ac- counts perfectly. Prepare the Freight Door and
Door/Window Combination: Glue one of the windows to the door with their tops flush. Reinforce the joint with a scrap piece of sty- rene glued between the two at the back.
The Tichy freight door comes
in two parts: the frame and the doors. If you want the doors open, you can cut the doors apart and glue them in the open position.
Subwalls
Cut out the subwalls, which will be the base on which you will glue the individual boards. I used balsa wood. Basswood,
