Surva, XXIV International Festival of Masquerade Games This international festival, held at the municipality of Pernik, celebrates various ancient Bulgarian customs that are still alive today. The most spectacular feature is a two-day parade for masquerade companies, from the country and abroad, who create amazing masks and costumes. Around 6,000 people usually travel to the event to join in with the celebrations.

Sweet arias and powerful baritone voices fill the air of this Danish city during the ten-day festival. Operatic performances plus other concerts, movies and workshops will take place across the city. Venues include the Aalborg Congress and Culture Centre, local restaurants, shopping streets and even local libraries. Each year, the festival is attended by around 15,000 opera aficionados.

Panama Jazz Festival Get ready to celebrate the smooth rythms of jazz at this week-long festival. Well-known artists such as Children of the Light, Benny Golson and Mapujazz will gather in the city to perform their take on jazz. There will also be a music therapy symposium, where therapists will lecture on the therapeutic effects and practical benefits of music. Tickets for the festival start from US$20, while symposium tickets are $250 a week.

This event attracts around 10,000 fans of electronic music each year to Montreal’s Old Port, where icy installations deliver a cool backdrop to music provided by local and international DJs.
