Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival Korea’s annual ice festival is held in Hwacheon in Gangwondo, which is the first area in the country to freeze over in winter. While the river is covered with a thick layer of ice, you can try activities such as ice fishing. Those who are brave enough can try to catch mountain trout with their bare hands, while others can simply enjoy the taste of pre-caught grilled mountain trout. Other fun activities include ice football, snow sledding and admiring the ice sculpture exhibition, which takes 20 weeks to prepare.
