ETIHAD AGREES NEW PARTNERSHIP MODEL WITH FIVE AIRLINES
GULF CARRIER ETIHAD HAS LAUNCHED Etihad Airways Partners, a new brand that will operate in a similar way to the three global airline alliances.
The partnership will initially incorporate the Abu Dhabi-based flag carrier and five other airlines – Air Berlin, Air Serbia, Air Seychelles, Jet Airways and Darwin Airline.
However, any airline can become an Etihad Airways Partner, even if it’s part of an existing alliance, like Oneworld member Air Berlin. Etihad said the new
brand differs from legacy airline alliances by offering benefits “well beyond pure commercial co-operation”. It said Etihad Airways Partners will offer “synergies and
efficiencies” for participating airlines on one side, and “enhanced network choice, service and frequent flyer benefits for the consumer on the other”.
The airline said frequent
flyer benefits will include standardised mileage and tier benefits across all partners, no blackout periods and priority services.
HOTLIST 2015 SERVICED APARTMENTS
ASAP TO ROLL OUT STANDARDISATION
THE ASSOCIATION OF SERVICED APARTMENT PROVIDERS (ASAP) has unveiled plans to promote its Quality Assurance (QA) programme beyond members and direct to customers. The QA programme will provide the serviced apartment sector with an official set of standards – similar to the star rating used by hotels.
Over the past year independent assessors have visited nearly all of ASAP members’ properties and provided each one with a standard. This means that from November all members who have achieved the QA accreditation will be able to display the approved ‘kitemark’. ASAP managing director James Foice said the organisation’s aim is to create an internationally recognised serviced apartment standard.
