needs considerably, as all territories operate on the same platform. In addition, global client reporting has become an inherent part of the process, making it much simpler for TAG agents and more readily available to customers. These greater efficiencies and resulting productivity have had a financial spin-off for clients, too – TAG is able to offer them a lower cost-base. TAG Desktop is supported by Filemaker Pro, Travelport and Navitas, which contribute to its flexibility, ease of use and agile content management. Feedback from staff has been overwhelming, according to TAG’s group operations director Judith Heinrich, who is the driving force behind TAG Desktop. “The most pleasing aspect for me was being told by all our staff, not only in the UK but in the US and Australia as well, how TAG Desktop has improved their working capabilities, especially in the areas of MI reporting and accounting.” Positive comments have also come from customers, who are delighted

Following the success of Phase 1 of the project, TAG launched Phase 2, allowing the system to interact with multiple GDSs to give automated download of hotel and car bookings. A TAG Traveller App follows, which will link clients directly with the TAG Desktop profile facility. This will also have full tablet functionality, specifically to facilitate online management of group travel. “The implementation of Phase 1 at the start of the year went as well as we could have possibly hoped,” says Heinrich. “We launched Phase 2 at the beginning of the month and early indications are that it will be every bit as successful as Phase 1. I’m so pleased that we have won this award and my thanks go to both the GTMC and Travelport.” The launch is the culmination of 18 months’ hard work. “I would like to publically express my thanks to our global operations and IT teams for their
tremendous efforts in producing this – now award-winning – technology,” says John Gianquitto. “TAG Desktop is truly innovative and we are all very proud of the system. “We firmly believe that continued investment in every aspect of the business, but particularly in technology, is the key to continued growth and success. We will shortly be launching a number of other new and enhanced software systems and mobile apps direct to our customers, which we will certainly be entering into the next GTMC/ Travelport technology award.”
