Three directors to leave Virgin Holidays in autumn Three Virgin Holidays directors will leave the business this autumn. Chris Roe, e-commerce and specialist business director, Wayne Perks, product and commercial director, and Susan Forde, strategy director, are all leaving. The news comes after managing director Mark Anderson implemented a new leadership structure for the business. Roe, Perks and Forde will work on internal projects until their departure.

Norwegian plans fleet of four Breakaway-Plus ships Norwegian Cruise Line has ordered two more Breakaway-Plus class ships for delivery in 2018 and 2019. The 4,200-passenger vessels will be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany and will be added to the recent order for Breakaway-Plus ships Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Bliss.

South Africa to instigate new requirements for child travel New regulations are coming into force on October 1 for people travelling to South Africa with children. Notice of the rules was issued by South African Airways, which said the laws were “to ensure the safety of children”. Various documentation proving the identity of children must be produced by those travelling with under-18s. The rules are to comply with the South African Immigration Amendment Act of 2010. Midcounties Co-op boss raises £4,700 for charity
Ben Reid, chief executive of The Midcounties Co-operative, took on a 194-mile coast-to-coast challenge to help raise more than £4,700 for Teenage Cancer Trust. Reid and his wife Sue completed the walk from St Bees, Cumbria, to Robin Hood’s Bay, North Yorkshire, in 13 days. The money they raised will help towards The Midcounties Co-operative’s £500,000 fundraising target for its charity partner. The pair faced daily climbs of up to 2,400ft and spent an average of 14 hours a day walking.
Refloated Costa Concordia to make
its final journey The wreckage of Costa Concordia has been refloated for the first time since it capsized in January 2012. The ship was lifted off the under-sea
platform it had been resting on for the past year and is now floating two metres off the platform. The next step of the operation will
involve towing the vessel to its home port of Genoa for scrapping. The ship hit rocks off the Italian island
of Giglio, with the loss of 32 lives and the evacuation of 4,200 passengers and crew. According to reports, Costa boss Michael Thamm said the cost of salvaging the wreck, refloating it, towing it away and disposing of it was €1.5 billion.
