From the PRESIDENT


For three quarters of a century, William Jessup University has been faithful to the vision of its founder, William Jessup. ‘Brother Bill’ founded San Jose Bible College on a faithful commitment to Jesus, to prayer, to scripture and to reaching the world for Christ. Brother Bill believed the best way to change the world was to start a Christian college. We are the result of that vision.


Over the years, six presidents have served San Jose Bible College, San Jose Christian College and William Jessup University including Brother Bill. Presidents Al Tiffin, Woody Phillips and Chuck Boatman all sought to hear carefully from the Lord and walk in obedience to Him during their season of leadership. President Emeritus, Bryce Jessup, served boldly and faithfully for 26 years, leading the transition from San Jose to our residential campus location in Rocklin and helping position us to grow as a Christ- centered university. Today, I have the joy of leading the university to the future that God has prepared and into which we are now emerging. Each president who has served has been faithful to maintain the key principles of the Restoration Movement: focus


on the lordship of Christ, the authority of scripture and the unity of the Church.


Before you read ahead and hear the future God is calling us toward, it is appropriate to pause and give thanks for the gift of these past 75 years. Nothing at the university today would be possible were it not for the sustaining prayer, sacrificial giving, obedient and faithful service and dedicated effort of the men and women who have gone before us. Countless faithful servants and givers, many whose names we are simply unable to list in these pages, sacrificed to make this present hour possible.


It has been said that those who do not learn from the past are likely to repeat it. Likewise, I am committed to maintaining our rich heritage as part of our vibrant future. As one such example, Brother Bill’s commitment to prayer has served as an inspiration to me. Over the course of the past year, my wife and I have been praying with a team every week in my office. Prayer takes place across campus in various groups every day. We are seeing heaven and earth intersect at Jessup. Prayer was foundational to our past and
