No.33 City on a Hill
Bryce Jessup’s new book describes the legacy and history we have all come to know and love. From our humble beginnings with just 14 students to a vision that will position William Jessup University well for the future, the book tells stories that many have not heard and shows God’s providence all over our unique heritage.
No.36 College Antics
Tere are some things that remain constant over the years and having fun in college is one of them. ‘Faculty Follies’, variety shows, leaving a dead fish in the library, dressing up in costume, hanging out, filling up dorm doors with popcorn or newspaper, all amount to good memories for our alums.
No.37 Hair
Dennis McGuire (’80) recalls the times of concern over men’s hair, “Right before I started SJBC, I read in the student handbook that you had to have your hair cut above the collar and wear dress pants to class. So I chopped off all my locks and wore a suit to school. Ten the first person I saw when I visited the campus
was Terry Tigner, walking down the hall with a T-shirt, jeans, and shoulder length hair. I wanted to cry.” Tis yearbook photo of Greg Strannigan (’76) represents the hair trends commonplace of the 70s.
No.35 Coffee
No.34 Metonym
Known as the literary journal of William Jessup University’s English program and staffed by students. Metonym is a yearly, periodic collection of original fiction, poetry, literary nonfiction and cross-genre work by writers from the West Coast and across the United States.
Still the best part of waking up . . . our student connection to coffee has remained constant over the years but where you got your ‘cup of joe’ depends when you attended. At SJBC, some alumni remember the “never ending coffee pot” that seemed to produce a continual stream of coffee for a dime yet the pot always remained miraculously full. It must have been a sign of our ongoing optimism because it wasn’t remembered as half empty!
Originally at SJCC, some remember ‘Godly Grounds’ as Rocklin’s first on-campus coffee shop. Now that we have ‘Te Shack’, who can resist a Starbuck’s Pumpkin Spice Latte at the first sign of fall?
No.38 Facilities Team
Where would we be without constant, loving care for our campus and service with a smile?
No.39
