Money Matters (cont.) Currency Aboard Ship

The U.S. dollar is the standard currency aboard The Gauguin, and you may exchange dollars for small denominations of local currency at the Reception Desk. For your convenience at the time of embarkation, Paul Gauguin Cruises will request a confidential registration of an accepted credit card. The night prior to your final disembarkation from the ship, a detailed statement of your shipboard charges for onboard services and products will be delivered to your suite or stateroom. All such charges must be paid in full by cash or accepted credit card (Visa®, MasterCard®, or American Express®).

Local Currency

For up-to-the-minute exchange rates, you can consult a major newspaper or bank. Also, you can check on the web at www.xe.net or www.bloomberg.com.

Packing Tips What to Pack We recommend that you pack the following travel essentials:

• Comfortable cool clothing of natural fibers • Elegant resort wear for evenings

• Sun hat, sunglasses, sun block – strongly recommended • Swimsuit and pool slippers • Beach cover-ups

• Swimming T-shirt (or Lycra® top), preferably long sleeved • Insect repellent • Travel alarm clock • Reef shoes*

• Jacket or sweater for cool evenings

If you require prescription medication, be sure to bring enough to last for your entire vacation. It’s also a good idea to bring the prescription for your eyeglasses. In addition, many travelers assemble a basic traveling first-aid kit that includes such items as an over-the-counter pain medication, antacids and other over-the-counter stomach remedies, sunscreen, Band-Aids, antiseptic spray and wipes, the antibiotic you generally use, and an elastic bandage.

Please note that complimentary snorkeling equipment is available on board.

*Guests should be aware that shoes suitable for wearing in the water, whether this be reef shoes, sneakers, or old sandals, are imperative to the enjoyment and safety of participating in water-based activities. Corals, urchins, and other marine life can cause painful cuts and injuries that can be prevented by wearing appropriate footwear while in boats and in the water. It is strongly recommended that you bring the appropriate shoes from home for this purpose. Note that flip-flops are not suitable for this function.
