Onboard laundry and valet services, including pressing and dry cleaning, are available for an additional charge, and may be arranged through your steward/stewardess.
Liquor
Complimentary onboard beverages include soft drinks, juices, bottled water, hot beverages, beer, and select wines and spirits. Guests may contact their steward/stewardess or Butler for any in-suite/stateroom beverage needs. The legal drinking age on board is 21.
Local Naturalists & Guest Lecturers
The Gauguin frequently invites experts representing a wide variety of interests to come aboard for a featured presentation or even to guest host a cruise. Join one of these cruises and enjoy special insights into art, wine, cuisine, Polynesian life and culture, the wonders of the deep, and more.
We also often invite local naturalists with an extensive backgrounds in marine ecology on board to lead a variety of lectures and casual discussions. Perhaps you’ll also accompany this environmental expert on local excursions, such as plant walks, bike adventures, night snorkels, diving excursions, and mountain and ocean hikes.

The medical center is designed to provide medical care for certain temporary illnesses and accidents. These facilities are not intended for nor capable of providing ongoing treatment of pre-existing medical conditions. Any such special requirements or need for pre-existing health services aboard the ship must be cleared in writing with Paul Gauguin Cruises before final bookings will be accepted. The ship’s licensed and registered doctor and nurse are on 24-hour call for professional and emergency services, which are available at customary charges. For guests requiring oxygen equipment, an oxygen concentrator is the only form of oxygen equipment allowed aboard ship and must be provided by the guest. Paul Gauguin Cruises’ wheelchairs on board are for emergency purposes only. Please note that Medicare and U.S. health insurance are generally not accepted on board ships or in foreign destinations. Claims are made upon return to the U.S. and should be filed through your health insurance provider or through the Paul Gauguin Guest Travel Protection Plan if you have purchased it. All receipts and doctors’ reports are required to process claims.
Pets & Animals
Pets and animals are not permitted aboard The Gauguin. Smoking
For the comfort, convenience, and safety of all our guests, smoking is prohibited in any enclosed dining venue and is permitted only in specifically designated outdoor smoking areas. These include the forward outdoor areas on Deck 5 (starboard and port sides), La Palette (outside area, starboard side only), and the Bar Du Soleil (starboard side only). Cigar smoking is permitted only at La Palette. Smoking is prohibited in staterooms, suites, and private balconies, and pipe smoking is not allowed anywhere on board.
Smoking Safety Notice: Always use the ashtrays and never throw cigarettes overboard – they could be blown back into the ship and cause a fire.
Tipping Guidelines
For your convenience and value, gratuities for room stewards and dining staff aboard The Gauguin are already included in your cruise fare. If you feel strongly about expressing your gratitude to the crew, you can make a
