Think chicks, check access
It’s that time of year again: when we ask you to take notice of the places where there are restrictions due to our nesting feathered friends. It’s now easier than ever to check for restrictions, both before you head out and while you’re on the move, using our Regional Access app (BMC RAD) for iPhone and Android. Think of the chicks and check out the app.
WALKERS The BMC’s first tee- shirts specifically for hill walkers are fresh off the press this spring. We’re bringing you the latest in hill-walking style with a design featuring the names of the Wainwrights in the shape of the Lake District. All the tees are made from ethically sourced top-quality organic cotton. Available in burgundy and petrol, sizes S-XL, for £15.
TEE TIME FOR
Help celebrate our 70th by wearing one of our anniversary hoodies. We’re not shy about showing our age: our proud ‘70’ across the back of this cosy garment is made up of our favourite routes from across the UK since 1944. These top-quality, ethically-sourced cotton hoodies are available in a range of sizes and colours for just £28.

Open Wales Campaign
Join our campaign for a more accessible Wales
We’re going all out on our Open Wales campaign to get the best possible outcome for walkers and climbers during the Welsh access legislation review. The BMC’s campaign is helping to raise awareness of the Welsh government’s radical review of the law surrounding access to the outdoors. We recently met up at Gogarth with John Griffi ths AM, Minister for Culture and Sport, to talk about the many benefi ts of a more accessible countryside and coast in particular. The BMC is calling for access laws to be extended and simplifi ed and will be responding to the proposals set out by the Welsh government.

hris Townsend, one of the world’s most respected experts on long-distance walking and backpacking, has become the BMC’s fi rst hill-walking ambassador. A renowned writer, photographer and gear expert, Chris has chalked up more than 15,000 miles in the wild places of North America, Scandinavia and Scotland through a dozen huge solo walks. The BMC ambassador scheme aims to provide role models that will inspire and engage new hill walkers, climbers and mountaineers. Chris said: “Having been a member and supporter of the BMC for over 30 years, I’m honoured to be the BMC's fi rst hill- walking ambassador. I hope to promote hill walking and inspire and inform hill walkers and show them just why the BMC is important.”
