SPORTSWRAP


Field hockey. The team finished at 19-4, earning the Liberty League


title and a trip to the NCAA Division III championships, where it


advanced to the semifinals, falling by 3-2 in overtime to Salisbury.


Scoring phenom Kelly Blackhurst ’14 (below) went All-America for a


third straight season, was regional Player of the Year, and became the first Skidmore field hockey player


ever named the Division III National Player of the Year. Coach Beth Hallenbeck was named NFHCA Regional Coach of the Year.


Soccer.The women’s squad


finished 12-4-2, qualifying for the NCAA tournament. Five players earned All-Liberty League honors and three went all-region. The men racked up a 12-6-2


record and advanced to the league championship game for the first time since 2006, where they fell to St. Lawrence. Four of the men won all-league honors.


Volleyball. The team tallied an


11-18 record in a tough schedule that included 13 matches against region- ally ranked opponents. Corinne Palmer ’14 was named first-team


All-Liberty League and recognized as All-New York Region. Golf. Skidmore won the Tim


Brown Invitational, and a third-place finish (behind Rochester and Rensse- laer) at the league qualifier ensured the team a berth in the Liberty League finals this spring.


Tennis. On the national stage,


Oliver Loutsenko ‘14 advanced to the singles semifinals in the USTA/ITA Small College Championships and earned All-America honors. He and partner Dan Knight ’14 won the


USTA/ITA doubles title at the regional level. Lout senko began the spring


season ranked third nationally in sin- gles and sixth nationally in doubles with Knight—both rank ings are the highest ever for Skidmore men’s


tennis. The women’s squad went 3-0 in the fall and won six titles at the statewide Division III championships.
