SEEKING APPLICANTS for MOAA’s Board of Directors

Applications sought for board of directors This year, as required by MOAA’s bylaws, eligible MOAA members will elect 12 new directors to take of- fice Oct. 29 to replace those who will complete their six-year term. The association needs highly qualified of- ficers with proven track records in the grades of W-1 through O-10 to serve. The bylaws prescribe the appor- tionment of board seats by service. In addition to five vacancies to be filled without regard to service affiliation, service-specific vacancies this year are one Army, two Navy, two Air Force, one Marine Corps, and one U.S. Pub- lic Health Service. The Coast Guard and NOAA have no specific vacancies, but officers from those services may apply for the five at-large seats. As our national chaplain completes his board service this year, applications specifi- cally are sought from military chap- lains. In addition, auxiliary members are, for the first time, eligible to apply. A special nominating committee will select for each upcoming vacancy the nominee who, in its judgment, will best serve the interests of MOAA and its members. The committee’s slate of nominees will be presented to the voting membership by mail for elec- tion. Printed ballots will be furnished with the August 2014 issue of Military Officer, and online voting again will be offered. Newly elected directors will be installed after the annual meeting in the Washington, D.C., area Oct. 29.

Submitting an application To apply, officers should download the application form from MOAA’s Web Base (www.moaa.org/boardapplica tion). The form will ask for:  a résumé of your military service or, if an auxiliary member, your vol- unteer activities;

Reference letters must not accompany an application but must be mailed separately to the address below. They must be in hard copy (no emails) and signed. No more than three letters will be considered. The application package must be in

loose-leaf form. Do not bind the pack- age together, and do not staple mul- tipage documents (use paper clips). Applications and letters of reference should be mailed to Committee on Nominations, Military Officers Asso- ciation of America, 201 N. Washington St., Alexandria, VA 22314. All materials must be received by March 31. If there are any questions, you may call (800) 234-MOAA (6622), ext. 167.
