S “The premises I operate from in

basis of the review only to find that it does not meet expectations. This is where the relationship with your Hi Fi dealer is essential in the decision making process. Being a small independent operating in the Channel Islands in some circumstances if you are considering something special a visit to the manufacturer’s factory may be appropriate. As much as I would like to have a pair of J M Focal Grand Utopia speakers on demonstration at £110,000.00 a pair, for one I don’t have the space and secondly it is not an everyday item.

The way you listen to music, loud, party levels, late night relaxing, all day background will have a bearing on a system recommendation as will musical tastes such as classical, electronica, rock, popular or acoustic. Other considerations may be whether you require the system out of sight, able to serve more than one room or like most enthusiasts you couldn’t care less what it looks like as long as it sounds great.

The premises I operate from in St Brelade is a little unusual as it is partly a WWII German bunker. The main benefit being the home cinema demonstration room is

literally bomb proof. I can play movies at insane anti- social levels without a note being heard outside, a real bonus in my line of work.

I open for business on a walk in basis on Thursdays between 10:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., all other times by appointment including evenings. The reason for this being that putting a system together for a demonstration can be time consuming depending upon the equipment required so time is needed to prepare and it guarantees that you will have all the time you need to listen undisturbed, coffee included of course.

One of the key

brands I demonstrate is Naim Audio Limited a British Hi Fi manufacturer based in Salisbury. Naim build some of the finest

equipment in the world with a trademark sound of their own which is pace,

rhythm and timing or PRAT as it is known in Hi Fi circles. Their equipment won three awards alone in this years What HI Fi magazine which is no mean feat. They are leaders in the field of

amplification and CD storage and retrieval. They are also the custom installer for Bentley Motors.

Other brands supported are ProAc loudspeakers, Onkyo, Monitor Audio, Michelle Engineering, McIntosh Labs, Audiolab, Grado Headphones and Atlas cables. I am able to source most equipment that is out there so if you do not see what you are after ask me and I may be able to assist.

If you wish to see what I am about or discuss your next purchase pop in for a coffee.
