Welcome TO OUR FIRST SUPPLeMENT S

port plays a major role in North American culture, from professional sporting leagues such as NFL, NBA, NHL and relative newcomer, MLS,

to collegiate sport; with college athletics more popular than its professional cousins in certain instances.

It is little wonder then that the region is one of the preeminent forces when it comes to latest-generation in sports stadia. This, coupled with the fact that many venues across the region are 50+ years old, has led to a major boom in refurbishment and new build programmes. The main objective for the vast majority of these projects being to provide the best possible fan experience, encompassing everything from user-friendly ticketing solutions to ergonomically-designed seats offering superior sightlines of the latest action, played out on perfectly manicured pitches and shown across some of the world’s largest HDTV displays.

This North America Supplement aims to highlight some of the United States’ 130+ sports venue development projects with budgets totalling in excess of US$25bn, coupled with details on some of the latest Canadian projects, punctuated by a selection of the latest developments from across the region as a whole.

Add into the mix the fact that the US Olympic Committee has now confi rmed it likely that a North American city will bid for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games, and it seems assured that the region’s already burgeoning sports venue development sector is set to continue on its stratospheric rise.
