Design the Cover Honorable Mentions

by Tory Tedder-Loffland Tank you to everyone who sent cover design

submissions to the December Design the Cover contest—our largest yet! Deciding on one cover winner was a very difficult task and almost every employee at the co-op got involved as impartial voters. Te cover winner is Audrey Linn of Verden for her

pencil drawing of the bridge at the Chickasha Festival of Lights. Almost everyone who viewed this piece knew what it was immediately. It is magical. Coming in second and earning the back cover slot

is Austin Buchanan, a second-grader at Clara Reynold Elementary in Harrah. I was especially impressed by his use of dimension with the figures in shadow against the brilliance of the lit trees. Good job, Austin!

Te pictures on this page were also well loved.

I like how Koby Curren placed different Christmas trees on a hand to emphasize safety while decorating; Addyson Lindsey made a fun picture of CFL Charlie and LED Lucy sledding; and Ashtynn Caldwell's swirls were a favorite of many OEC employees. I am thankful to the many school art teachers

who encouraged participation in our contest. We have something special planned for art teachers in our next Design the Cover contest. Look for information on that in the spring of 2014. Merry Christmas to all—stay safe!
