Enjoying Traditions From the desk of - Austin Partida MR/PR Rep.

Every family enjoys some type of holiday tradition. Whether it’s putting up the Christmas tree together, baking sweets for friends and family, or enjoying a seasonal clas- sic movie such as the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vaca- tion, which is a must-see for my family during the holidays. Traditions evoke nostalgia, fond memories, and also offer a sense of pride to a family or even an organization. Your local electric coop- erative associates itself with traditions as well. We thrive to provide affordable, reliable and safe electricity to northern Oklahoma and feel a profound sense of pride in our coopera- tive family. The Kay Electric Cooperative family consists of 49 employees, nine trustees

and most importantly, 5,785 member-owners. These rich traditions are practiced year- round. Take, for example, our com- munity involvement throughout the co-op’s service territory. We reach out to our youth with the Youth Tour and Energy Camp contests and also offer an electrical safety demonstration program. For families, we pro-  our heat pump rebate program, website links and Facebook posts, and we’re constantly adding new programs and services to help you better understand, control and pay your electric bill. You already can pay your bill online, and before too long, you will be able to manage your account—pay your bill, view hourly consump- tion and even report an out- age—via your smart phone or tablet.

Another cooperative tradi- tion is being transparent with it member-owners. Social media, text messaging and a user- friendly website have allowed us to communicate with you through many mediums. These mediums are relied upon heavenly during major storms. As you already know, our number one priority is to keep your lights on. However,

As with the holidays, new traditions will be implemented and historical ones might be tweaked, but there’s one tradi- tion that will remain: Seventy- seven years of “Working For You” is our proudest tradition. I encourage you to have pride in your traditions and share them with others.

On behalf of all of us at Kay Electric Cooperative, we wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Kindest Regards, Austin Partida
