Farris Continued from Page 19

I could present the information in a succinct enough manner.” Hayden C. Hewes, another local Oklahoman, finds his name in the pages of Farris’ latest book. Hewes is mentioned in the

chapter about ‘Strange Sooner Skies,’ which discusses all of the

unexplained sightings in the skies of Oklahoma. In 1958, Hewes organized the International UFO Bureau for the purpose of scientific investigation. The rest of the book is full of stories that live up to the spooky title. Bigfoot, black cats and feisty ghosts all make their appearance within the 295 pages of text. Through each of his depictions of the stories, Farris is careful to remain neutral. He simply provides the facts and lets the reader do the rest.

Farris includes specific reference documentation within the book to support each of the stories. For someone who spends his life researching and learning about all of these legends, you would think picking a favorite would be difficult. “That’s actually really

easy,” Farris said. “I love the entire Bigfoot legend, the mystery, whatever you want to call it.”

As Bob Burke said so well in the foreword, “These stories are an important part of Oklahoma history. Once you have absorbed them, you will understand more about real life in the 46th state.” Copies of Oklahoma Outlaws, Spooky Stories and All Around Folklore are available by mail. To purchase, send a check for $21.95 plus $3.00 shipping and handling to: David Farris, P.O. Box 5991, Edmond, OK 73083.
