A REAL FLARE FOR DESIGN

The specialist Cobra slots chair from Patir Design is an extraordinary design innovation for the gaming industry

It's not rocket science, but a simple equation - the more comfortable you are, the longer you're likely to stay seated in the same position. Seat manufacturers have attempted to create the most ergonomically efficient gaming chair for slots players for years, balancing the needs of the operator to maintain and reposition the chair, with the needs of the player to find the ideal seating position and remain comfortable throughout their gaming experience.

While there are numerous specific gaming chair manufacturers, the form factor of the chair has remained, roughly, the same. Wheel a slots chair to the bar and you can sit comfortably drinking without remark. There's nothing extraordinary about the slot chair that defines its function, aside from the embroidered back. The exception to the rule is the Patir Cobra chair. Patir Design has taken all the usual elements that we associate with a slots chair and combined extra-ordinary slot-specific components to create the industry's first truly dedicated slots chair.

Germany-based Patir Design has spent the last 12 months honing its design, designated Cobra due

to the chair’s flared back that weaves into its headrest the speakers that invisibly deliver the game's music and SFX directly to the player for a cinema-chair experience. A patented sliding mechanism allows the chair to twist left or right for access and then smoothly glides the player closer to the screen. Able to recline back from the slot is a unique feature of the Cobra chair as a regular slot chair would tip the player away from the button-deck. The Cobra resolves the issue by providing interconnected buttons on the chair- arms, allowing the player to recline and optimally play at the same time.

"We studied the ergonomics of slots play to create the Cobra chair," explains Patir Design's Seref Patir at the G2E show in Vegas. "We believe that this is the future of slot chair design and having finalised the design and concluded our first order, we are very happy with the results of our labour. I think this is one of the best chairs

“I think this [the Cobra chair] is one of the best chairs we've created. It's all about achieving the most comfortable position possible to ensure that the player is able to maintain their gaming for the longest period." Seref Patir, CEO Patir Design.

we've created. It's all about achieving the most comfortable position possible to ensure that the player is able to maintain their gaming for the longest period."

The new chair is available in either the Cobra (flared-back design) or as the Anaconda (narrow- back), or Patir Design can even supply the foot-plate on its own to enable operators to use different chairs, but access the same functionality of the Patir models. "We have several companies in Germany interested in both the plate-design and the Cobra and Anaconda versions of the chair," explained Mr. Patir. "We are very excited about the future of the new designs and look forward to fulfilling our first orders."
