between the ECA and the Electrical Safety Council (ESC) (see box), ECA members now have even greater access to a wealth of training expertise from a wide number of locations, as well as online. The Certsure joint venture, established in
November 2012, has created a single company to run the certifi cation and training brands of both the ECA and ESC – including ELECSA, ECA Certifi cation and NICEIC. These will all carry on running under the Certsure umbrella. Meanwhile, the ECA will continue to enhance its vital role as the electrical industry trade association, while the ESC concentrates on its role as the consumer electrical safety charity. ECA Today: How has training changed as a result of the creation of Certsure? Steve Mitchell, technical director, Certsure: The biggest diff erence that ECA members will notice is the huge portfolio of courses now on off er. Previously, the strength of the NICEIC’s training department lay in its range of courses pertinent to the one-man band and small to medium-sized enterprises.
