Amendment No 2 now available n


The IET has now made available Amendment No


2 to BS 7671:2008, the IET Wiring Regulations 17th Edition. Issued on 1 August, the free-


to-view Amendment comprises a new section: 722 – Electric Vehicle Charging Installations, based on HD 60364-7-722 (April 2012). This follows the publication


of the corrigendum to BS 7671:2008(2011) which replaced section 710 – Medical Locations. This Amendment is vital for


all involved in the installation of electric vehicle charging points. The specific requirements include PME systems, socket-outlets and connectors, as well as external influences, isolation and switching and RCD protection. All installations designed after 31 July 2013 must comply with BS 7671:2008 Amendment 2:2013. It is available to view free on the

TECHNICAL UPDATE: Free guide revision download


The ECA technical department has recently revised its guide to the legislative requirements for EMC for fixed electrical installations. The guide is free for ECA members to download from the ECA


website, and provides practical guidance on good design and installation practice for electrical system infrastructures. It can be downloaded directly from the ‘Downloads’ section of

Following the approval of ECA Council, the


ECA’s technical committee structure has been redesigned to better meet the needs of ECA members’ and reflect technical developments and member activity.


Under the new committee


structure, the ECA’s power committee and ITEC committee have each had their status raised to ‘standing committees’, reporting directly to ECA council. At the same time, the technology development committee (TDC) has been disbanded, and its work will be taken over by the new standing committees. The two new standing


committees also have new titles: n The former Power


committee is now the ECA Technical committee


committees redesigned n


n The former ECA ITEC


committee is now the ECA Information Communication and Controls Technologies (ICCT) committee.
