eading life-safety equipment manufacturer C-TEC has chosen Prysmian’s FP Cables for its brand new headquarters in Wigan. C-TEC specialise in life- safety systems such as fire alarms, voice alarms and disability products all of which feature prominently in its new 75,000 sq ft facility. For these vital systems, FP PLUS and FP200 Gold were specified and installed for maximum circuit integrity. The voice alarm system was connected to the fire alarm system so it can broadcast alert messages in the event of an emergency. Similarly, a SigTEL Disabled Refuge System was installed enabling two-way communication between rescue teams and disabled people waiting in the refuge area. Stephen King, Project Engineer for electrical contractors Solid State Security,
said, “This was a straightforward
specification. We use FP Cables across the UK at a host of different sites; our engineers prefer them to competitor products because they are so easy to work with.”

Managers: Stephen Richardson in the Northern region and Luciana Lloyd for the South. Both will look after accounts utilising Drakas products for data, broadcast and industrial applications. They work as a key interface between the customer and the technical support team at Draka, ensuring customers can easily access the wealth of technical expertise and specification advice available from the largest global manufacturer of cable products. A combination of technical expertise and faultless logistics is required for the
large and complex projects forming a significant part of the companys business such as the provision of broadcast cable for the entire European Championships in 2012. Both appointments took effect in February this year and, with a full sales and support team in place, Draka, now part of the Prysmian Group, is looking forward to continued investment in the UK market.

MT’s Powertrack first to gain Intertek ASTA type test certification

able management specialist Marshall-Tufflex has reinforced its market-leading position with its Series 507 Powertrack and fittings becoming the first system
to achieve ASTA type test certification for short circuit testing to BS EN 61534- 22:2009 Clauses 15.4,18.4.3.2, & 18.4.3.3. The testing regime was conducted by global specialist Intertek. “The Marshall-Tufflex 507 system complied with the requirements of the standard and, as a result, the ASTA Type Test certificate (No 18559) was issued. This short-circuit withstand test is now a compulsory part of the latest harmonised standard for powertrack systems.

Series 507 Powertrack comprises a comprehensive range of underfloor 63Amp powertrack. Each length of track comes complete with pre-assembled coupler, end cap and floor mounting brackets. In addition tap-offs are key and colour coded for Standard and CE and are 32Amp rated or fused at 13Amp.
