Products Industrial Plugs & Sockets 7-way multi-pin waterproof connector

A new 7-way multi-pin waterproof con- nector featuring push-pull design for ease of connection and disconnection has been introduced by Intelliconnect. The new connector is an addition to the Pisces range of waterproof connectors, and is suitable for harsh environments and may be connected and disconnect- ed by operators wearing gloves. The new connector is waterproof to ten

metres in the unmated condition (both halves), has an operating temperature range of -55 to 125ºC and the socket is connected directly into the PCB via sol- derable printed circuit tails. The push- pull connection design provides maxi-

Handling up to 750A

The Hypertac HBB connectors, available in the UK from Aerco, are rated up to 750A and provide easy mating and quick release with over 2,000 mating cycles. This high current capability and environmental performance makes the HBB range well suited for elec- tric drives used in military vehi- cles, weapons, avionics, rail transport and automotive and medical equipment.

Using the Hypertac hyperboloid contact technology, the standard connectors are rated at 300A and 500A while versions capable of over 750A are available on request. These single-pole circular connec- tors are supplied in a choice of metal or high strength composite shells, are sealed to IP67 and pro- vide 360° EMI/RFI shielding. Configurations are available in cable or panel mount versions with straight or right angle backshells. Rated up to 1,000V DC, the HBB series can accept cable sizes of up to 70mm² for 300A versions and 120mm² for 500A versions. Aerco www.aerco.co.uk T: 01403 260 206

mum ease of connection and disconnec- tion, has a keyway for alignment and secure orientation and has an operating life of greater than 500 cycles. The sock- et may be mounted on panels of a thick- ness of 5.5 to 8.0mm. The new Pisces connector meets MIL- PRF-39012, MIL-STD-348, is RoHS compliant and is designed and manufac- tured in the UK with 100% locally sourced components.

Custom designed versions of the new 7-way multi-pin are available via Intelliconnect’s custom design service with drawings available in 24 hours and prototype parts available in seven weeks. Typical applications for Intelliconnect RF connectors include medical, telecoms, satcoms, military, aerospace, space, gen- eral microwave communications, rail trac- tion, oil and gas, and marine. Going heavy duty for rugged environments

Multi-Contact has developed a new heavy duty electrical connector with continuous EMC shielding that has been designed for use with 3-phase motors supplied by frequency inverters. The round, single-pole connec- tor accepts Class 5 and 6 cables in accordance with IEC 60228 and is based on Multi-Contact’s 16BV model, which has proved its worth

in test facilities, emergency power supplies and switching installations. The 21BV-GS has been designed for use in rugged conditions, such as deep drilling rigs for geothermal energy and power chains for cranes. It provides touch protection when in the unmated state, while a bayonet fixing ensures a secure connection.

The connector has been tested to IP65 and IP67, both when mated and with captive sealing caps in place. A remote indication of whether the connector is mated can be provided with an optional microswitch. The connector accepts cables with cross-sections of 300mm2

rated to 1,000V and 600A. Multi-Contact www.multi-contact.com 01908 265 544

The widely used range of Binder M8 connectors has been enhanced with the introduction of new angled versions with screw clamp contacts.

The 3- and 4-pole connectors consist of a con- tact carrier and an angled cable outlet with locking screw and the design allows the housing to be mounted in one of two positions, 180° apart so that the angled cable outlet can be oriented to suit the application. This will be of particular interest in applications such as drives, controls, sensors and automation equipment.

Binder M8 connectors have screw termination for wires up to 0.5mm2

(AWG 20) and are IP67

when mated and have a current rating of 4A. They accommodate cable sizes from 3.5 to 5mm and offer in excess of 100 mating cycles.

Phoenix Contact has expanded its M12 flush type plug connector range with new high pin count designs for PCB mounting. The 12- and 17-pin flush type plug connectors (pictured) have a two part structure for efficient assembly and angled solder contacts, which are suitable for both THR and wave soldering processes. Users therefore have the option of M12 plug connectors with universal 4- to 17-pin angled contacts.

It is now possible to implement device designs with PCBs at a 90° angle to the front plate without any restrictions. There is also

The company has also added to its range of M12 flush type 1.4404 stainless steel plug connectors for applications with demanding requirements. The 4- to 17-pin plug connectors are available with preassembled stranded wires and are suitable for front or rear panel mounting. Users have the choice of PG9, M16 and M20 threads. The A, B, and D codings prevent incorrect plugging. All prod- ucts are sealed and thus meet the IP67 protection rating even when unplugged. The flush type plug connectors are suitable for PCB mounting and conventional installation methods. Phoenix Contact therefore now provides a portfolio of stainless steel M12 products for application in environments that exhibit large temperature fluctuations, high levels of vibration, or wherev- er a high degree of hygiene or corrosion resistance is required.
