Bespoke trunking solution for furniture specialist
REHAU has combined its strength in the healthcare sector with its expertise in bespoke customer solutions in a contract for a leading furniture specialist
Tom Hunter, development engineer at REHAU and responsible for product development, said, “This was an unusual contract in that the trunking was to be fitted by the furniture manu- facturer direct to the furniture, so we had to take into account the dimen- sions of the individual desk units as well as the layout of the rooms where they were to be fitted.
EHAU has fabricated bespoke corner sections for the COMPACT data cable trunking system which it supplied for attaching direct to the framework of desking units installed in a London-based consolidated labora- tory company.

The configuration of the desks meant that standard corner sections would have prevented the desks from fitting snugly into the corners of the offices and labs, so REHAU designed a new bespoke corner section which overcame the problem.
“Because of our in-house design skills and the manufacturing resource we have available at our UK factories, we were able to produce an adapted version of our standard corner section specifically for this project quickly and cost effectively.

design and procurement company responsible for the installation, was delighted with the finished result which met the client’s high expectations in terms of quality and attention to detail. REHAU does not impose minimum order quantities for its bespoke trunking components and offers short lead times. The company has a growing reputation in the healthcare sector with recent con- tracts for large scale hospital installa- tions such as at the new Barts and London hospitals, and smaller scale medical centre installations such as at the Churchfields GP surgery in Bromsgrove where anti-microbial cable trunking was fitted throughout.
