customization” through its use of cutting-edge technology to meet market needs.
Describing the factors that set Socomec apart from the competition,
Gnanajothi notes,
Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Gautham “Socomec’s product differentiation
excellence mainly stems from the fact that it designs and develops products that match the market needs. For instance, the company is currently focusing on two main market trends; the need to reduce the cost of energy along with the emergence of alternative energy sources, and the need for customers to efficiently estimate their power requirements.”
Socomec firmly believes in designing products with value- added features and functionalities – across all power ranges. The entire portfolio offers features that enhance performance, reliability and total protection. Socomec strongly advocates on-line double conversion (V.F.I or voltage frequency independent) mode for operation - the only working mode that guarantees total load protection along with reduced energy bills. Its UPS products are designed to assure high efficiency, not only at full load, but also at partial load and under every possible working condition. Frost & Sullivan describe Socomec as “a company that promises product innovation to address industry challenges such as efficiency, availability and floor space. It boasts of high customer retention and customer satisfaction, which it has acquired over the years by delivering top of the class products. measurable and sustainable benefits to our customers today and in the years to come.”

awarded inclusion on to Carbon Trust's Energy Technology list he standalone,
three-phase PowerWAVE 6000
(400 & 500kVA) UPS from Uninterruptible Power Supplies Limited (UPSL) has now been included in the Carbon Trust's Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) approved products list. The ECA Scheme for Energy Saving Technologies was created to encourage environmentally proactive businesses to invest in plant or machinery which has been designed with energy efficiency in mind, and which has been recognised as such on the Carbon Trust's Energy Technology Product List (ETPL). In real terms, this inclusion means businesses investing in the PowerWAVE 6000 (400 or 500kVA) can offset 100% of the cost of the UPS against taxable profits; therefore potentially reducing the organisation's tax bill by 28% of the equipment cost. If your business pays corporation tax at the current rate of
23%, and claims a standard capital allowance at the 18% rate, every £1,000 spent on qualifying equipment would reduce its tax bill in the year of purchase by £230.
Loss-making companies can also receive a substantial tax benefit when purchasing ETL qualifying technologies, with Payable ECAs. Through this scheme the Government will reimburse the organisation the value of the ECA equipment, up to 19% of company's total loss for that year. For further information see the ETL website. The PowerWAVE 6000 (400 & 500Kva) dramatically reduces the overall physical footprint, with a power density up to 363 kW/m2. The UPS also consumes less energy and generates low CO2 emissions – giving the PowerWAVE 6000 one of the lowest environmental impacts on the market and providing significant overall cost savings

batteries. Batteries that form part of a UPS system can be inspected without having to disconnect the batteries from the system that they protect, batteries can even be tested while connected to the charging circuit. This tester offers the service engineer the quickest, simplest way of testing and recording the health of batteries within a UPS system. During testing both the voltage and impedance are measured simultaneously; readings are automatically held and stored to the instruments integral memory which is capable of storing up to 4800 battery tests, in 12 separate file locations. Applications also include lithium-ion battery testing in electrical vehicles and other mobile technologies. The Hioki 3554 Battery HiTESTER retails at £1,499.
