I love using social media in my personal life, and it’s
great to see how this trend has moved into the business world. LinkedIn is like Facebook for professionals. I’ve been on LinkedIn for a several years, but it’s only in the past 12 months that I have really started engaging with it. It’s a great tool that allows me to showcase my skills, experience and achievements. A public LinkedIn profi le allows me to attract diff erent opportunities, from job prospects to keynote speaker requests to business opportunities for my employer.

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
On LinkedIn itself, the Executive Personal Assistants Society group has just received approval to broaden its membership to up to 100,000 followers. This follows it reaching the maximum of 20,000 members since being set
up in 2007, with the group organiser saying she had received many emails from people disappointed they couldn’t be approved for membership once it had reached its fi rst milestone. Meanwhile, Executive PA Magazine editor Louis Allen was surprised
to receive an email from LinkedIn in January to say he had one of the top 5 per cent most-viewed LinkedIn profi les for 2012. “LinkedIn now has 200 million members,” said the message. “Thanks for playing a unique part in our community!”
