Gymnastics & Tumbling
Cartwheelers (3½ to 4 years) Young gymnasts are introduced to balance beams, uneven bars and vaulting. The tumbling component includes skill-building activities to develop rolls, cartwheels and handstands. No class July 4.

Little Kippers (4 to 6 years)
Boys and girls are introduced to basic tumbling and gymnastics movements through creative warm-ups, jumping and tumbling. Gymnastics equipment is also featured. No class July 3.

Swingers (5 to 9 years)

Gliders (Girls 6 to 13 years)
Designed for girls with previous gymnastics experience who can execute cartwheels and handstands. Gymnasts focus on one-handed cartwheels, round-offs and bridges and begin working on limbers and walkovers. Training on gymnastics apparatus is also included. No class July 3.

Amy Shearer has been with the Downers Grove Park District for over 11 years and is currently the Gymnastics Coordinator, Lead Gymnastics Instructor and Twisters Team Head Coach. Amy started her coaching career as a YMCA Gymnastics Instructor and was a YMCA National Team Coach. She was a competitive gymnast for many years and was a member of the Downers Grove South Gymnastics Team. Amy has a Bachelor’s degree from UIC in Physical Education (kinesiology) and Coaching and she also coaches at the UIC Gymnastics Camp in the summer. We are happy to have Amy as part of our team and look forward to her continued success with the gymnastics program.
