Youth Sports & Leagues Horsemanship


Instruction Join us at Arabian Knights Farm to learn about the magnificent beauty and versatility of the Arabian horse. Learn the basics of horsemanship so you can interact safely and confidently around them. Long pants and closed-toe shoes with a one- inch heel are required for riding. Helmets are provided. Please arrive for each session 15 minutes early to check in and meet the instructors. Participants must be 8 years of age by the first day of class. Demonstrations take place on the last day of the third session.

Level 1: Beginner Horsemanship


Students will learn about safety, breeds, colors, anatomy and eyesight, and how to halter and lead a horse. On week two, the students begin balance exercises on horseback at the walk.

Level 2: Intermediate Horsemanship


Students will review and expand their skills learned in the Level 1 class. There will be a demonstration by our AKF youth and amateur riders on the different styles of riding. Students will learn nutrition, grooming and tacking, and continue balance exercises at the walk and trot. Class #

Level 3: Advanced Horsemanship


Students continue to review and practice all of the skills learned in Level 1 and Level 2. At Level 3, the students “take the reins” and learn basic control and steering at the walk and the trot. Students receive an AKF Horseman Certificate during this level to acknowledge their status as an AKF rider. Class #

Tennis Tennis Instruction


Class Descriptions & Ability Levels Rookies I, II, III (Ages 5 – 8): This level encourages having fun on the court with simple games and lead-up drills to the forehand and service.


Beginners (All ages): No previous instruction is required. Teaching includes an introduction to ground strokes, rally drills, elementary service, footwork and scoring.


Advanced beginners (All Ages): A wide range of basic strokes: forehand/backhand topspin on the move, basic service, block volley and shot placement. Along with these are an introduction to competitive points, games and modified sets.


Intermediate I & II (All Ages): Emphasis is placed on steadiness, consistency, control and placement of shots. Instruction includes angles, approach shots, service and return of service, overhead and lob drills, and some emotional and mental match thoughts.


Rain Procedure


If it has rained the night before your lesson or has been raining during the day of your lesson, use the steps listed below:


1. If there is a 90% change of continuing rain one hour before your class, you will not have class.


2. If you are still not sure after following the first step, call your instructor’s cell phone. 3. If your class is cancelled because of weather, go to your next scheduled lesson. Lesson make-up policy does not apply to players who simply skip a lesson.


A maximum of two rain make-ups for each lesson series is guaranteed. A Session make-up dates - Monday/Tuesday, July 8/9, 2013 B Session make-up dates - Monday/Tuesday, August 12/13, 2013 or come to another class of similar ability level during the session.

Juniors & Adults: $7 discount fee if registration for both sessions is submitted by June 5.


Friday “Jr. Open Class Competition”


Players must be advanced beginners or above, have had prior instruction or have been selected by one of the instructors. These players meet a third time each week on Fridays from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at a site to be named.
