E-Z Model Railroads The E-Z Track®
Planning Guide & Layout Book
structures looked inhabited and there were no gaps between the bottom of them and the scenery base. Instead, they appeared to be anchored in the ground, as they should. Everything was weathered, but not uniformly. Some things appeared newer or in better con- dition than others. The rolling hills, rock outcroppings, meandering streams and autumn leaves on the trees created
a 3D miniature of rural New York State. In short, Kip’s D&H Sonnyvale branch is a lesson in good model rail- roading and shows that close attention to small details can pay big dividends. The layout runs well, features a logical trackplan, resembles the area being modeled and brings its owner and his friends a lot of enjoyment. That, I’d say, is a good model railroad.–C.P.D.
Brian Holtz’s kitbashed Rix Products Maxwell Avenue Home with an enclosed porch (see top photos; page 51) has found a home on Doug Tagsold’s HO scale Terminal of Toledo layout, a 1,200 sq. ft. representation of Toledo, highlighting the local switching and interchange traffic of Conrail, Chessie System, Ann Arbor, N&W and Toledo Terminal railroads as they appeared in the late 1970’s. Judging from the photo, Doug’s layout also focuses on the little things.
