Over 220 agents attended the Amazing Thailand Quiz Night at the glam Café de Paris, in London's Leicester Square. As well as the chance to party and network, everyone had the chance to win a prize, many donated by our generous sponsors, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Airways, Travel 2 and Outrigger Hotels & Resorts. The evening kicked off in style, with some Thai cocktails courtesy of Bangkok Airways and continued with a spread of delicious Thai food, in-between presentations from the sponsors and the six-round pub-style quiz. Agents had the new Thailand Travel Guide to hand, helping them to answer questions on geography and culture, amongst others. There were great prizes up for grabs and congratulations go to the ‘Unlucky for Some’ team, which won the quiz; Kate Hooker, from Freedom Asia, who won Thai Airways flights and an Outrigger

THE CHALLENGES The distance: Families will not relish the idea of a 12-hour flight with the kids. Flight costs: Airfares are expensive. Bad press: Political unrest in Bangkok over the last few years has negatively influenced public opinion. Too popular? Thailand has been 'trendy' for a while now, and some clients might feel it's too obvious a choice - not exotic enough. Been there done that – Well it's popular, so many people will have already experienced it.


THE OPPORTUNITIES The distance can easily be split. For instance, many Middle Eastern airlines fly to Bangkok. Suggest a day or two in Dubai, Muscat, Qatar or Abu Dhabi to break the journey. The flight: Flight price may be relatively high compared to other sun and sand destinations, but it is balanced by the low cost of living. Dining, drinks, spa treatments, transport and even hotels are great value for money in Thailand. Peace and quiet: It's been a while since any protests have disrupted service in Thailand. When they did happen, they were almost always confined to non-tourist areas of the city and never affected beach resorts. Thailand is always upping its game. For example, it's now leading the


way in eco-tourism products. There are always new destinations to explore. If they've been to Koh Samui and Phuket, suggest Koh Chang, Khao Lak, or the north of
