HISTORIC Hotel da Bahia in Salvador, Brazil, is currently being renovated and will open as the Sheraton Da Bahia at the end of 2013. Starwood Hotels & Resorts has
partnered with local hotelier GJP Hotéis & Resorts to extend its presence in the country. The Sheraton da Bahia will feature 284 guest rooms, including 16 suites, all with the brand’s Sweet Sleeper Bed and Sheraton Club Lounge. The lobby will feature the brand’s Link@Sheraton, a signature social hub. There will also be two restaurants, the Sheraton Fitness programme by Core Performance, a 1,938 square feet spa with a salon and sauna, swimming pool, business centre, and a flexible meetings and event facility for up to 400 people.

Amazon museum
IQUITOS is to get a new attraction - the Amazon National Museum, which the government of Peru hopes will be a gathering place for the area’s tribes. The museum will also serve as a
base for the research and dissemination of information on the Amazon’s cultural heritage. It is planned to be located near the city’s Quistococha Lake,
in close
contact with nature. Visitors to the site will also be able to cruise down the Amazon or visit the nearby Pilpintuwasi Butterfly farm and its animal collection.
