The Avon EZAir modular unit Staying cool with EZAir
Avon Protection Systems has introduced EZAir, the first of its new genera- tion of compact, battery powered modular airflow units, which combines an advance in respiratory system engineering within an ergonomically de- signed housing unit. The EZAir is designed to reduce the physical burden of traditional respiratory systems – favoured by law enforcement teams and first responder units operating in the arduous Middle Eastern climate, where temperatures regularly exceed 40º C. Bahrain and Quatar have now placed significant orders for EZAir units to complement their large stocks of Avon FM53 and C50 masks. The Avon EZAir modular unit’s super-light engine drives a compact,
self-contained blower unit which incorporates Avon’s NIOSH-approved CTF12 riot filters. A low flow/battery alarm supported by ‘hot swap’ removable batteries provides the wearer with a very lightweight and versatile system that delivers a new level of comfort combined with traditional Avon respira- tory protection. The unit provides users with cooler air intake, elimination of potential for mask fogging, and a lower breathing resistance when compared to non-assisted filters - to enable the wearer to work longer in a physically taxing scenario. Weighing just 225g and 70mm x 120mm in diameter, the modular
respiratory engine is claimed by Avon to be the smallest self-contained blower unit with integrated battery pack on the market. The unit can run on three different power options: replaceable CR-123; rechargeable Li-ion or single use emergency battery. Depending on filter and battery configuration, it will run from 4-10 hours and is supported with low flow and battery warn- ing alarms.

The Trellchem VPS Flash Level A gastight chemical protective suit.
Ansell Protective Solutions has been awarded a US Patent for its Trellchem VPS Flash garment material, used for manufacturing Level A gastight chemical protective suits. Trellchem VPS combines a flame-retardant aramid base fabric with abrasion-resistant rubber and a multi-layer chemical barrier film. In all it provides more than eight hours’ permeation time against hazardous chemicals along with flash fire protection and protection against liquefied gases, radioactive particles and biohazards. Chemical protective suits made of Trellchem VPS Flash are available in both fully encapsulating and non-encapsulat- ing design and are certified for Chemical Protective Clothing (CPC) standards as NFPA 1991 (including optional flash fire and liquefied gas protection require- ments). The suit is now also certified to the European standard EN 943-1 and the tougher EN 943-2/ET for emergency teams and is being aimed at the Euro- pean market mainly for fire & rescue and law enforcement. zy
