Mail and Flowers Volunteers deliver mail to patients’ rooms every weekday, except national holidays. Flowers and giſts are delivered as soon as they arrive. Please note that plants and flowers are not permitted in the critical care unit or certain isolation rooms. Our staff will be happy to mail stamped letters for you.


Gift Shop Te Market Place is located in the first floor lobby. Te shop offers cards, stationery, magazines and paperback books, a variety of giſt items for people of all ages and fresh flowers and plants, which are delivered to the shop daily. Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing giſts of food or drink to patients. Hours of Operation: Monday–Friday: 9:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. Saturday: 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. Sunday: 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.


Newspapers Complimentary newspapers are available for any of our patients wishing to receive one. Please contact our St. Alexius Volunteer staff at extension 6278 and they will be delighted to bring a copy to you.


Patient Meals Your diet is a vital part of your treatment and recovery at St. Alexius Medical Center. Te diet that you will be following is prescribed by your physician and will offer you a selection of foods based on that plan. Dining On Call allows you to eat what you want, when you desire. Te room service menu is in your Patient Folder and offers a variety of choices. Call and place your order along with the time that you would like to have your meal delivered. Te dietary staff will help you choose items that are included in your prescribed diet. If you skip more than one meal, the dietary staff will call you to inquire as to the reason. Dining On Call is available from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Te hospital maintains a staff of registered dietitians to


meet your needs. If you have any questions about your meals or diet, please ask your nurse or call extension 6290.

Smoking Smoking and/or the use of any tobacco products is not permitted anywhere inside the hospital. Visitors and employees are permitted to smoke in the designated area outside the Emergency Room. Patients are prohibited from smoking at any time during their hospital stay. The nursing staff will be happy to facilitate discussion with your physician to assist you through this non- smoking hospitalization.


Fire Safety We periodically conduct fire drills. If you hear an alarm, stay where you are. In the event of an actual emergency, hospital staff will notify you.


Notary Public Notary public service is available to attest or certify writings in order to make them legally authentic. For more information, call the Patient Relations Department at extension 8731. This complimentary service is available during the day, Monday–Friday.
