SHOW PREVIEW: INFOCOMM 2013 LAB.GRUPPEN LEAVES THE RACK BEHIND

Lab.gruppen is launching its new install- dedicated decentralised amplifier range, LUCIA, at InfoComm. LUCIA

sees Lab.gruppen entering the market for small-scale AV applications, and is the smallest amplifier it has ever produced. The company says that the two-channel LUCIA (Localized Utility Compact Intelligent Amplification) is suited to corporate boardrooms, classrooms and small lecture theatres, museum multimedia areas and retail units. It offers

price. Commercial Design models offer a choice of 4.5in, 6.5in and 8in driver sizes. The new series was designed to complement Community’s Distributed Design family, and uses many of the same technologies, including real compression drivers and Tru-Phase phase plugs for high output and low distortion. Commercial Design ceiling models also incorporate labour-saving installation innovations, such as Community’s Drop-Stop technology. Products from the d&b audiotechnik White and Black speaker ranges will be on display, along with two stations on the booth where the d&b ArrayCalc V7 acoustic modelling software will be shown with a functioning R1/R70 remote system control set-up. Harman’s JBL Professional

is showcasing its JRX200 Series portable passive PA loudspeakers, upgraded from the previous JRX100 Series. They now feature an improved high-performance compression driver, an updated, more professional appearance and additional enhancements. The four models in the new JRX200 lineup include the JRX212

high-quality audio without the complication and cost of a distributed system. Designed for speed of install and configuration, LUCIA combines low-impedance amplifier electronics with advanced DSP. The range comprises four models across two power configurations – 2 x 60W and 2 x 12W – each available with either 4-in, 4-out

12in two-way loudspeaker/ stage monitor, the JRX215 15in two-way speaker, JRX225 dual 15in two-way speaker and JRX218S 18in compact sub. L-Acoustics is showcasing

two new systems – the 5XT ultra-compact coaxial enclosure and SB15m compact subwoofer. The smallest member of the XT coaxial series, the 5XT is based on a two-way passive design with a nominal impedance of 16 ohms. The compact system contains a 1in diaphragm compression driver coaxially loaded by a 5in low-mid frequency transducer mounted in a bass-reflex tuned enclosure. Outline will be continuing its 40th anniversary celebrations at InfoComm. On the company’s stand will be a live demonstration of the GTO C-12, which uses technology derived from the larger- format dual-15in GTO introduced in 2011 but is smaller and 30% lighter. Also featured will be will be the re-engineered DVS powered speaker series, which includes iMode remote monitoring and control, with the DVS 12P and DVS 15P now fully biamped via twin internal amplifiers. Revolabs will demonstrate

matrix-mixer and configurable DSP features (LUCIA 120/2M, LUCIA 240/2M) or in a basic 2- in 2-out configuration (LUCIA 120/2 and LUCIA 240/2). All models come with DSP preconfigured ‘out of the box’ for typical applications; however, the M variants can be set up using Windows or Mac software via USB connection to customise the processing and mix-matrix to meet specific requirements. Klas Dalbjorn, Lab.gruppen’s

product research manager for install products, says: “LUCIA breaks new ground for Lab.gruppen, at the same time drawing on our knowledge and expertise in powerful, energy- efficient amplification. LUCIA is

its Executive HD MaxSecure eight-channel wireless microphone system and compatible microphones, which support the AES-256 Advanced Encryption Standard. Units can connect up to eight microphones with exceptional audio quality and link multiple units – up to 32 (Americas) or 40 (elsewhere) microphones per area. They also feature RS-232 or Ethernet support, an intuitive LCD display for onsite configuration/control, and remote monitoring capabilities via available software. Vaddio’s stand will see the launch of the company’s EasyMIC PRO, which allows any third-party microphone to be a USB microphone when paired with an EasyUSB mixer/amp. The EasyMIC PRO Mixer incorporates Vaddio’s SmartMIC technology into the mixer, providing distributed multichannel acoustic echo cancellation and automatic microphone mixing. Additional DSP technologies include noise reduction, microphone gating, equalisation, filtering and AGC for automatically calibrating to the live requirements of the room.

Vaddio is set to launch the EasyMIC PRO 36 June 2013

CONNECTIVITY, CONTROL AND SWITCHING Making its debut on the Alcorn McBride stand is the newest addition to its control product line, VCore. It provides control of museum exhibits, kiosks and retail outlets, and works as a subsystem controller. VCore, the smallest controller in the line, contains many of the features found in Alcorn McBride’s larger V Series controllers: Ethernet,

Energy Star compliant, and is built on proven Class D technology. The ease of install, ease of use and relatively low through-life cost make this a very compelling choice.” LUCIA features Lab.gruppen limiters and mastering-quality EQ and technologies from elsewhere within TC Group, including processing algorithms evolved from TC Electronic’s System 6000 mastering system. Advanced DSP features include the Enhanced Bass Profile, which is said to deliver greatly improved LF performance from standard full-range in-ceiling or surface mount speakers, possibly negating the need for a separate subwoofer. With

the Auto Load Sense feature, the device automatically measures the impedance of a connected load and adjusts itself to deliver full power at all impedances (2-8 ohm). Intelligent fan control ensures silent operation at low volumes, and low noise even at high output. Tailor-made presets will be

made available for Tannoy’s commercial loudspeaker ranges, along with additional hardware accessories to provide mounting flexibility.

Analog Way will show two new Ascender multi-screen seamless switchers

real-time clock scheduler, incoming message processing, online programming interface, touchpanel integration and more. VCore can be programmed with Timeline in minutes to command any exhibit area, kiosk or other standard AV system. Timeline offers a flexible way to program events and supports hundreds of time-based and event-based sequences and timelines. Analog Way is unveiling the

Ascender 32 and Ascender 48 – two premium multi-screen seamless switchers, which will complete the company’s LiveCore series. Both systems offer 12 seamless inputs and 42 input plugs: six HDMI, nine DVI-I, three DisplayPort, 12 3G/HD/SD-SDI and 12 universal analogue. The devices can handle any source from composite video, up to 2560 x 1600, and outputs a variety of formats, including HDTV and computer format up to 2560 x 1600 and 4K. Atlona will be showcasing its new AT-H2H-88M 8 x 8

HDMI matrix switcher, which routes sources to displays, enabling devices to be shared in multiple spaces simultaneously. The switcher, which offers eight zones, also simplifies multi-room distribution, making it easier for integrators to customise installations cost-effectively. In addition, compatibility has been improved and the unit is now easier to upgrade. Adding to its line of

networked audio wall plates, Attero Tech will show the world’s first Dante-enabled in/out end point designed for in-wall mounting. The unDX2IO features two balanced XLR mic/line inputs and two balanced XLR outputs, and fits in a standard two-gang US wall box. It is PoE powered, so audio, control and power are supplied with a single Cat5 cable. The two XLR inputs have three gain settings for line level, low mic and high mic gains. Attero Tech will also unveil an updated version of its DialogBox 4/2 with a major upgrade to its DSP firmware.
