TOMORROW’S FLOORING
BE ONE STEP AHEAD IN THE FLOORING INDUSTRY
TOMORROW’S FLOORING LOKDOTS™
SHAW INDUSTRIES GROUP INC.
American based company, Shaw Industries Group Inc., is changing the face of carpet tile installation with the launch of LokDots™. Designed for use with Shaw’s EcoWorx carpet tile, LokDots™ is a non-toxic, odourless alternative to traditional wet adhesive installation, virtually eliminating the issue of VOCs while providing ease and versatility. Applied using an ergonomically designed, triggerless handheld applicator, LokDots™ helps installers and end-users address several common installation challenges.
High moisture areas and occupied spaces represent two of the most complicated installation scenarios. Barrett Morton, Shaw Commercial Research & Development Director, commented: “LokDots™ has been designed with these and other installation challenges in mind, including increasing installation efficiency and reducing installation costs. One of the biggest differences between LokDots™ and traditional wet adhesive installation is that the system can easily be used in an occupied space with significantly less interruption for the inhabitants.”
LokDots™ is the first carpet tile installation system to be Cradle to Cradle Silver certified.

LOPRO10™ NU-HEAT
LoPro10™, from Nu-Heat is a retrofit underfloor heating (UFH) system which provides a genuine alternative to traditional radiator-based systems in existing properties.
At 15mm, LoPro10™ answers floor height build-up problems associated with retrofitting UFH. The 10mm PEX-c pipe is flexible, light and easily placed in the grooved panels in lengths of up to 60m. Tiles can be laid directly on to the dense, rigid gypsum board.
LoPro10™ panels are of a composite gypsum construction giving low thermal resistance and high-density properties that provides high thermal output. LoPro10™ also has a third less thermal mass than a screed floor, allowing it to heat up and cool down rapidly. To help meet Part E acoustic criteria, LoPro10™ provides airborne acoustic reduction on timber upper floors by adding mass – 15.5kg/m². This also means it feels more solid underfoot than many lightweight floating floors. Running costs over electric systems are also much improved; 1kW of electricity at 12–14p is more than three times the cost of 1kWh of gas at 3.5p. A LoPro10™ system partnered with a gas condensing boiler will also offer greater efficiency and better running costs than an electric system.
